Charter Steel Plant Tour

Tour Description: Charter Steel operates a mini mill in Cleveland, Ohio, that includes a melt shop, a rolling mill and several expansions in recent years.

During the tour, individuals will see safety solutions focused on reducing employee exposure, automation solutions to optimize efficiencies/performance, and advanced manufacturing solutions such as a billet ID Robot.

Safety Requirements: The site will require participants to wear pants and closed toe shoes.  The balance of Safety PPE will be provided during the orientation.

General Motors Parma Metal Center Plant Tour

Tour Description: Parma Metal Center produces sheet metal stampings and assemblies for the majority of GM vehicle programs.  Parma is capable of producing over 100 million parts per year and has over 1100 employees.

Tour participants will experience a high-level walk-through of manufacturing processes including transfer press lines, high-speed progressive press lines, and multi-cell, resistance and laser welding metal assembly operations.

Safety Requirements: Long Pants and substantial shoes are required.  Shoes must cover the entire foot and no High Heeled shoes are allowed.  Additional PPE will be provided at the plant in the form of Safety Glasses, Ear Plugs, and Protective Sleeves.

Important Note: Photography is prohibited while inside the facility.

Special Tour Accommodations/Considerations: Parma Metal Center follows GM and CDC guidelines around additional COVID PPE requirements that may be in place.

Vitamix Plant Tour

Tour Description: Vitamix produces the worlds leading blenders. We produce roughly 1 million machines per year for companies like William Sonoma, QVC, Costco, Amazon, Whole Foods, Starbucks, etc. We have roughly 700 employees, and have been recipients of Manny Awards, Wire Net, Crystal Impact Award, and Evolution of Manufacturing Award.

Participants will see the lean journey, quality MDI, blade automation cell, a production cell, warehouse MDI, and shipping MDI. Participants will be able to see CI in multiple locations, understand some of the process, and visually see the lean transformation.

Safety Requirements: No open toe shoes. Participants will be need safety glasses and will be provided by Vitamix. Safety procedures will be communicated during the tour.

Important Note: Tour will consist of a 30-minute presentation, 1-hour plant tour and a 15-minute Q&A.

Special Tour Accommodations/Considerations: Casual dress is OK.

Plant tour spots are limited and are first-come, first served. The plant tour host company reserves the right to deny entry to their facility to any attendee for any reason.*

*In the case you are removed from a plant tour list by the hosting company, the event team will do our best to place you on an alternate tour.
