Original equipment manufacturers often talk about the need for a lean supply chain to maintain or increase their own competitiveness. Unfortunately, most supply chains cannot support their OEM customers in a lean manner. And few OEMs have overall strategies, processes and resources to lean-up the suppliers they work with. In this presentation, we will outline what it means to have lean suppliers and a lean-performing supply chain—and the financial benefits that each can deliver. We will present a proven lean supplier-development strategy and lay out how current lean practices can be more effective in developing lean suppliers.
