In his role as executive vice president, Global Manufacturing and Logistics, for Navistar, Mark Hernandez is responsible for oversight of all the company’s manufacturing operations, including implementation of its Industry 4.0 manufacturing strategy.
Prior to his current role, Hernandez was an experienced practice expert at McKinsey & Company, where he provided support for business transformation and operational challenges, specializing in automotive and assembly, particularly in the commercial vehicle space.
Prior to that, Hernandez spent over two decades at Daimler, the global truck manufacturer. Most recently, he served as vice president and general manager for operations, Daimler AG, overseeing the company’s Mount Holly, North Carolina, truck manufacturing plant, with responsibility for the production, logistics, engineering, and quality production of Freightliner business class and severe duty trucks.
Earlier in his tenure at Daimler, Hernandez served in a series of increasingly responsible positions, including general manager of the largest truck plant in North America and director of manufacturing for major Daimler truck and chassis manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Mexico.
Hernandez earned a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering and nuclear engineering at the United States Naval Academy. He achieved post-graduate certification in naval nuclear power, lean manufacturing, and supply chain and supplier management. Hernandez also holds a Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Six Sigma certification from the Villanova School of Business.
